A Tuscan Dream: Kayla Seah & Guillaume Viau’s Romantic Black Tie Wedding
From a chance elevator encounter to a 17th-century villa in Lucca, the founder of Not Your Standard and artist Guillaume Viau celebrated their union with timeless Italian elegance.
The Love Story: From an Elevator to the Altar
It was a “universe-aligned” meeting in a crowded elevator that first sparked the connection between Kayla Seah and Guillaume Viau. After years of friendship and perfectly timed coffee dates, Guillaume proposed during a sunset sail in Toronto. Given Kayla’s Italian heritage and their shared love for the country, a destination wedding in Tuscany was the only choice.
The Venue: Villa Coselli, Lucca
The couple chose a breathtaking 17th-century villa just outside of Lucca, part of the Coselli Collection. The property offered the perfect synergy of:
- Rustic Tuscan Charm: Authenticity in every stone and olive grove.
- Refined Elegance: A sophisticated atmosphere for a black-tie affair.
- Intimacy: The ability to host all guests on-site, allowing for cherished “in-between” moments like shared breakfasts before the ceremony.
A Curated Bridal Wardrobe
Kayla’s style journey featured a blend of drama, contemporary silhouettes, and high-fashion “moments”:
| Event | Designer | Look Details |
| Ceremony | Galia Lahav | A champagne strapless two-piece with a peplum corset and a sweeping ballgown skirt. |
| Reception | Sandra Mansour | A sleek, fitted gown with statement sleeves for a fun, sartorial transition. |
| Welcome Dinner | Emilia Wickstead | White and blue floral taffeta, perfect for a Tuscan evening. |
| Farewell Night | Magda Butrym | An ivory bustier mini-dress to close the celebrations. |
The Celebration: Rain, Fireworks, and Dancing
Despite a light “blessing” of rain during the garden ceremony—where guests shielded themselves with parasols—the energy remained electric.
The festivities transitioned from a martini-filled cocktail hour on the lawn to a traditional Italian banquet feast. The night peaked with a spectacular fireworks display synchronized with the cake cutting, followed by an indoor party fueled by a lineup of five world-class DJs, including Brendan Fallis and Flight School.
“We both have a love for hosting… creating a beautiful environment with the right energy is something we both thrive on.” — Kayla Seah
