Historyof Villa Matteucci
Casa Felice Matteucci holds a wealth of history, tradition and culture within its walls as it was once home to Felice Matteucci (1808 – 1887) who, in the summer of 1854, invented the first stroke engine (prototype to the modern day motor car) in his on-site workshop. Whilst his father was nominated counselor to the High Court of Justice of Leopold II, Felice spent much of his time looking after the two country homes that the family owned at the beginning of the 18th century one of which was Villa Controni/Casa Felice Matteucci where he continued his scientific researches.
